Did you ever think, "I could make that better?" The annual Extreme Redesign Challenge is the perfect time to showcase your design for additive manufacturing skills and win awesome prizes. Stratasys has sponsored the Extreme Redesign Challenge for the past 15 years to promote students using 3D printing as a tool to make the world around us a better place. The challenge, hosted on GrabCAD allows for collaboration with the online community to solve real design problems. This challenge is a quest to find the most creative, mechanically sound and realistically achievable RE-design using 3D printing.

This contest is open to students currently enrolled (in person or taking coursework online) at a university, college or post-secondary school worldwide. Students may also work in teams.

How do I submit an entry?

STL files submitted to our GrabCAD challenge platform are then categorized in a variety of ways to be judged by our team on the following attributes:

  • Mechanical design – What’s the practical purpose and functional form of the design?

  • Design creativity – Is this object unique and interesting in its idea, form, and function?

  • Product usefulness – What is the reason for the design’s existence? Does it serve a useful purpose or solve a human-centric problem?

  • Aesthetics – Applies to the art, jewelry and architecture category – Since it’s categorized as art, is beauty a central focus of the design?

Deadlines

Entries for the 2019 Extreme Redesign Challenge may be submitted now through February 23, 2019.

  • The finalists will be announced by April 2019.

  • The winners will be announced by May 2019.
