Vision-Controlled Jetting™ (VCJ) 3D Printing Service

Vision-Controlled Jetting™ (VCJ) is an advanced elastomer 3D printing technology that combines inkjet material deposition with real-time optical inspection and closed-loop correction. Each printed layer is scanned and automatically adjusted before curing to maintain dimensional accuracy and repeatability.

This process enables production-ready elastomer parts using TEPU™ 30A and TEPU™ 50A materials. VCJ is well-suited for seals, gaskets, cushioning components, and complex geometries that require soft, functional performance without tooling.

VCJ™ Material Options

VCJ is available in two elastomer materials, TEPU 30A and TEPU 50A, each engineered to deliver functional mechanical performance across a range of softness and compression requirements.

Key Features
  • Shore hardness around 30A with high elongation
  • Flexible performance for thin walls and complex geometries
  • Consistent compression behavior for functional parts
  • Suitable for intricate features and internal channels
Applications
  • Thin seals and flexible gasket features
  • Soft-touch and human interface components
  • Cushioning elements
  • Wear-testable product components
TEPU 30A is a low-durometer elastomer designed for soft, flexible components that require elasticity, thin-wall capability, and consistent mechanical performance. With a Shore hardness of approximately 30A and high elongation, this material supports functional parts that must compress, seal, or interface comfortably with users.
Key Features
  • Shore hardness around 50A with balanced flexibility and strength
  • Strong compression performance for sealing applications
  • Good tear resistance and mechanical durability
  • UV and chemical resistance for demanding environments
Applications
  • Seals and gaskets
  • O-rings and compression components
  • Protective covers and caps
  • Robotics gripping elements and functional elastomer parts
TEPU 50A is a medium-soft elastomer engineered for applications requiring greater compression strength, dimensional stability, and environmental resistance. With a Shore hardness of approximately 50A, this material delivers resilient performance for functional parts exposed to repeated loading, mechanical stress, or outdoor conditions.

How Vision Controlled Jetting Works

Vision Controlled Jetting combines inkjet material deposition with real-time optical inspection and automated correction to produce accurate elastomer components layer by layer.

  1. Material Deposition - Reactive TEPU resin droplets are jetted precisely onto the build surface to form each layer of the part geometry.
  2. Optical Scanning - A structured-light vision system scans the entire layer to measure surface topography and detect any deviation from the digital model.
  3. Closed-Loop Correction - Before curing, the system automatically adjusts material deposition to correct variations and maintain dimensional accuracy.
  4. UV Curing & Support Removal - Each corrected layer is UV-cured to achieve final mechanical properties. A wax support system enables internal channels and complex geometries, then melts away cleanly after printing.

The result is elastomer parts with consistent geometry, smooth surfaces, and repeatable mechanical performance suitable for functional applications.

Benefits of Vision Controlled Jetting

Closed-Loop Dimensional Control

Each layer is scanned and corrected before curing, reducing variation and maintaining consistent geometry across builds. This improves repeatability for functional elastomer parts.

True Functional Elastomers

TEPU 30A and 50A materials provide soft, resilient performance beyond traditional prototyping elastomers, supporting compression, sealing, and mechanical durability.

Complex Geometry Capability

The wax support system enables internal channels, lattices, and intricate features that are difficult to produce with molded tooling or other additive processes.

Clean Sealing Surfaces

Contactless material deposition eliminates roller contact, helping maintain smooth sealing interfaces and reducing post-processing requirements.

Tool-Free Production

Produce elastomer components without molds, reducing lead times and enabling low- to mid-volume production without tooling investment.

VCJ Design Guide

Vision Controlled Jetting supports precise elastomer production across defined build parameters and feature capabilities. Our design guidelines outline recommended dimensions, feature resolution ranges, and geometry considerations to ensure reliable manufacturability and consistent performance. Reviewing these guidelines helps streamline quoting and production for functional elastomer components.

Applications for Vision Controlled Jetting

Vision Controlled Jetting enables functional elastomer components for sealing, cushioning, and complex geometries across industrial and commercial applications. The combination of soft material performance and dimensional control supports both product development and low- to mid-volume production.
