Improve 3D Printing Operations with Carbon Fiber

Download our guide to understand how it's made possible with flagship carbon fiber compatible 3D printers and other advanced composite materials by Stratasys.

Every manufacturing team we talk to is chasing the same things. Lower cost per part. Less time babysitting post-processing. More applications they can confidently move off the CNC queue and onto a printer.

The second half of 2026 brings a collection of updates across the Stratasys FDM® portfolio. New materials are expanding the range of applications manufacturers can address, while workflow enhancements, post-processing solutions, and platform updates are helping customers improve productivity from print preparation through finished part.

Together, these developments reflect an ongoing commitment to making industrial additive manufacturing more capable, accessible, and efficient for applications ranging from manufacturing aids to demanding aerospace and electronics production.

Here’s what’s new, and where each update can make a difference on your factory floor.

Go Bigger: Expanding Large-Format FDM Possibilities

The recently launched Stratasys F870™ brings large-format FDM production to the factory floor with a 1,000 × 610 × 610 mm heated build chamber, integrated material drying, and support for proven industrial materials, including FDM® Nylon 12CF™. Designed for tooling, fixtures, manufacturing aids, and large functional prototypes, the F870 helps manufacturers produce large, strong parts while reducing lead times and manufacturing costs.

The F870 and F3300® material portfolios are also expanding with FDM® ABS Draft in gray. This cost-effective material is designed for large prototypes, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing aids where mechanical performance and appearance are not the primary requirements. ABS Draft delivers approximately 80% of the performance of ABS-M30™ at less than 60% of the cost, offering an economical way to iterate, create functional prototypes and move more applications into additive manufacturing workflows.

Push Performance: Bringing High-Performance Materials to More Platforms

Material expansion continues across the FDM portfolio, beginning with the addition of Antero® 800NA CG to the F3300. This high-performance PEKK-based thermoplastic combines demanding mechanical and thermal properties with the throughput and production economics of the F3300, enabling manufacturers to pursue advanced aerospace, space, and harsh-environment applications at production scale.

The F3300 material portfolio is also expanding with ABS-ESD7™, a static-dissipative thermoplastic designed to help protect sensitive electronic components. By pairing proven ESD performance with the speed and productivity of the F3300, manufacturers can produce enclosures, jigs, fixtures, test devices, and functional components while minimizing risks associated with electrostatic discharge.

For customers seeking high-temperature performance, ULTEM™ 1010 resin was announced for the F3300, earlier this year. With the highest temperature rating and lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of any FDM material on the platform, it supports precise composite layup tools, high-temperature fixtures, and demanding prototypes. Customers using the F900® and Fortus® 450mc can also access ULTEM 1010 resin in large-capacity spools through the Fortus FDC™, supporting longer uninterrupted print times, integrated material drying, and improved part consistency.

Add Composites: More Composite Capability on the F370CR

The F370CR® is gaining a powerful new manufacturing material with the addition of FDM Nylon 12CF. Engineered for demanding applications, this carbon fiber-filled thermoplastic delivers a combination of strength, stiffness, and lightweight performance for functional prototypes, tooling, end-effectors, ergonomic aids, and end-use components.

Adding Nylon 12CF to the F370CR helps bridge the gap between prototyping and manufacturing on a platform known for reliability and ease of use. It also gives customers another option for replacing heavier metal parts with strong, lightweight alternatives.

Cut Material Costs: Lowering Material Costs and Packaging Consumption

TrueRefill™ is expanding beyond ABS-M30 with the addition of ASA in natural and black. Designed for reuse of existing spools and canisters, the refill solution provides more than a 35% cost reduction while maintaining the performance of genuine Stratasys materials. For F900 and Fortus 450mc customers, the solution also reduces packaging consumption by 30%.

For defense, aerospace, and industrial applications, ASA is also available in military-inspired colors for the Fortus 450mc and F900. These materials combine ASA’s UV resistance, weatherability, and mechanical performance with application-appropriate colors that can reduce or eliminate painting and finishing.

Spend Less Time on Supports: Simplifying Support Removal

New workflow improvements are helping customers realize value after the print is complete. FDM® EasyBreak™ is a support-generation feature available in GrabCAD Print™ and Insight™ software that creates planned, controlled break points within support structures on all FDM printers.

Testing has shown that 85% or more of the support material can be removed by hand. This can reduce solvent-tank time, improve access to fragile or detailed areas, and extend solvent-tank life.

For large-format applications, the ORYX® SCA 40K provides an automated support-removal solution for parts and production builds from the F770®, F870, F900, and F3300. Its 840-liter, or 222-gallon, tank and large-format cleaning basket are designed to accommodate oversized parts and high-throughput production. Automated support removal, high chemical capacity, and an ergonomic lifting system help reduce labor, improve consistency, and accelerate the post-processing workflow. Optional LSA 40K is also available for high-volume fill/drain capacity that can be paired with the SCA 40K.

The Bigger Picture: Advancing Industrial FDM from End to End

The H2 2026 FDM Model Updates demonstrate how Stratasys continues to advance more than individual printers or materials. These additions strengthen the complete workflow, from economical prototyping and high-performance production materials to build visibility, support removal, material management, and large-scale post-processing.

Whether the goal is to produce lightweight composite tooling, protect sensitive electronics, qualify aerospace applications, lower material costs, or simplify finishing, the latest FDM updates give manufacturers more ways to match the right material, platform, and workflow to the application.

So, whatever you’re working on, there’s a clearer path forward:

If your goal is to… Look at…
Build large tooling and fixtures in-house  F870 with ABS Draft or Nylon 12CF
Prototype large parts on a budget  F870 or F3300 with ABS Draft
