Frequently Asked Questions

The J3 DentaJet® is designed for small to medium-sized dental labs that are ready to move beyond single-material tabletop 3D printers and expand into higher-quality, multi-material dental production. As an entry point into Stratasys PolyJet™ technology, it gives labs the ability to print up to three materials in one unattended build while maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and low-touch workflow needed for daily production.

It is especially well suited for labs producing surgical guides, dental and implant models, gingiva masks, crown and bridge models, and orthodontic models. For labs that want to combine multiple part types on one tray, reduce material changeovers, and increase production capacity without adding labor, the J3 DentaJet provides a practical path to scalable multi-material 3D printing.

The J3 DentaJet® has a maximum printing area of 140 x 200 x 190 mm or 5.51 x 7.87 x 7.48 in. This build size supports mixed trays of dental parts, including models, surgical guides, and gingiva masks, or larger batches of a single application depending on part size, nesting, and production needs.

The J3 DentaJet also prints horizontal build layers down to 18 microns, supporting accurate, detailed dental parts across multi-material workflows.

The J3 DentaJet® supports a range of dental materials for producing accurate single-material and multi-material parts. Biocompatible materials include Biocompatible Clear MED610-DSG™ for surgical guides, VeroGlaze™ / MED620 for dental models, and MED625FLX™ flexible biocompatible material for gingiva masks and soft-tissue applications.

The J3 DentaJet also supports non-biocompatible materials such as VeroDent™ PureWhite, VeroMagentaV™, and Elastico Clear for model and visual applications. Biocompatible and non-biocompatible materials should be printed in separate jobs, according to the requirements of the intended dental application.

The J3 DentaJet® can print up to three dental materials simultaneously, plus support material, in a single print job. This allows labs to produce mixed trays that may include models, surgical guides, and gingiva masks together, depending on the application and material compatibility.

Support material is printed around the parts during the build to help maintain accuracy and surface quality. When the print is completed, the support material is removed with water.

The J3 DentaJet® is engineered for high-accuracy dental production, with build accuracy specified at 18.75 to 20.625 microns, depending on the selected print mode. This level of precision supports detailed, repeatable results for applications such as dental models, implant models, surgical guides, and gingiva masks.

PolyJet™ technology jets and cures fine layers during the print process, helping maintain part detail, dimensional stability, and consistency across mixed-material trays.

Yes. The J3 DentaJet® can produce mixed-tray dental prints with up to three compatible materials, plus support material, in a single print job. This allows dental labs to combine parts such as models, surgical guides, and gingiva masks on the same tray, helping reduce separate print runs, material changeovers, and manual handling.

Mixed-tray printing gives labs the flexibility to produce complete implant cases or batch multiple part types together, while PolyJet™ technology supports accurate, repeatable results across the build.

The J3 DentaJet® supports a range of dental applications, and is an especially strong fit for labs producing surgical guides, dental models, and gingiva masks. It can print up to three compatible materials simultaneously, allowing labs to produce mixed trays for implantology workflows in a single build.

The J3 DentaJet can also support crown and bridge models, orthodontic models, and indirect bonding trays, depending on the selected materials and workflow requirements. This makes it a practical solution for labs that want to expand beyond single-material printing and produce accurate, multi-application dental parts with PolyJet™ technology.

Yes. The J3 DentaJet® supports biocompatible dental materials for applications such as surgical guides, models, gingiva masks, and indirect bonding trays. Compatible materials include Biocompatible Clear MED610-DSG™, VeroGlaze™ / MED620, and MED625FLX™ flexible biocompatible material.

These materials support accurate dental production and can be used in multi-material workflows when compatible with the intended application. Biocompatible and non-biocompatible materials should be printed in separate jobs.

Yes. The J3 DentaJet® is well suited for small to medium dental labs that want to expand beyond single-material printing and add accurate, multi-material dental production. With the ability to print up to three materials in one job, the J3 DentaJet helps labs produce surgical guides, models, and gingiva masks together on one tray.

Its countertop-friendly design and unattended printing workflow can help labs scale production without adding staff, increasing hands-on labor time, or requiring more lab space.

Yes. The J3 DentaJet® can print implant models and surgical guides in the same build, along with gingiva masks when using compatible materials. This allows labs to produce multiple parts for an implant case on one tray, reducing separate print runs, material changeovers, and manual handling.

With PolyJet™ technology, the J3 DentaJet can print up to three materials plus support material in a single job, helping labs produce accurate, mixed-material implant cases more efficiently.

Files for the J3 DentaJet® are imported into GrabCAD Print™, Stratasys’ easy-to-use print-preparation software that helps dental labs prepare, arrange, assign materials, and send jobs to the printer.

GrabCAD Print accepts common dental CAD and mesh file formats, including STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP/STP, IGES/IGS, and VRML/WRL. STL is commonly used for dental models and surgical guides, while formats such as OBJ, 3MF, and VRML/WRL can support color and texture information for visual or anatomical models.

Once imported, GrabCAD Print helps prepare the build by supporting tray layout, material assignment, print estimation, and job submission to the J3 DentaJet.
