The 3D Printed Denture Has Come a Long Way

When Stratasys introduced TrueDent®, it changed how dental labs made dentures. Instead of needing to assemble separate pieces such as gluing teeth onto a base, TrueDent digital dentures are printed as one continuous piece. The base and teeth come out of the printer as a single, seamless monolithic polychromatic unit. That's a big deal for fit, functional occlusion, stability and the way a denture wearer responds to complete prosthetic treatment.

TrueDent uses five base colors that are jetted together in precise ratios during printing to match the natural shades of teeth and tissue. The result is a denture that looks realistic with better digital denture aesthetics and true-to-design fit. Plus, labs can scale production efficiently and reliably, without sacrificing quality.

Introducing TrueVoxel Advanced Aesthetics: The Next Step Forward

Even with TrueDent's impressive results, we wanted to push farther. We know that clinicians and patients want dentures that look as close to real teeth as possible, including the subtle details that make a smile look genuinely natural.

That's what TrueVoxelTM delivers. It's a new level of control built into the TrueDent printing process. Instead of just matching a shade on the surface, TrueVoxel prints realistic detail all the way through the tooth, from the inside out, raising the standard for digital denture aesthetics.

TrueVoxel prints lifelike detail into every tooth; not layered on the outer surface with composite, but built in from within.

Here's what that looks like in practice:

  • Incisal translucency: The edges of the teeth let light pass through slightly, just like real enamel. TrueVoxel recreates that translucency automatically.
  • Internal structures: Real teeth have subtle internal structures that give them a layered, three-dimensional look. TrueVoxel prints those in.
  • Cervical gradient: Teeth are naturally darker near the gumline and lighter toward the edge. TrueVoxel builds that gradient in, so the tooth shade transition looks authentic rather than flat.

With TrueVoxel, these details no longer need to be applied by hand. They're built into the digital process so every TrueDent denture can incorporate them automatically.

What TrueVoxel Means for Labs, Clinicians, and Patients

 For Labs

 For Clinicians

For Patients

Deliver advanced aesthetics without extra manual steps. Batch print up to 34 dentures per tray, standardize results across technicians, and reprint exact copies whenever needed.

Fewer adjustments, consistent better fit. TrueVoxel's lifelike look integrates naturally into every patient's appearance with no changes to your existing clinical workflow.

A denture that looks like you. Natural details like translucency, depth, and shade transitions are printed directly into the tooth so you can smile, eat, and speak with confidence.

More Than a Dental Device

A denture isn't just a functional tool, it's part of how a person shows up in the world. It affects how they smile in photos, how they feel at dinner, and how they introduce themselves. When a denture looks artificial or does not fit or function well, patients know it. And that affects their self-confidence.

TrueVoxel changes that. The details that make a smile look real like the way light hits the edges, the depth behind the surface, and natural shade transitions can now be standard features, automatically incorporated as part of the printing process. This new level of digital denture aesthetics is now possible at scale without adding extra time, extra steps, or extra cost.

Patients don't just want a denture that works. They want one that looks like them and feels like a natural part of their mouth.

What TrueVoxel Accomplishes

  • Raises the bar for what a digital denture can look like by printing aesthetic depth inside the tooth, not just on the surface.
  • Keeps everything that already makes TrueDent great including accuracy, monolithic construction, reproducibility, and scalable production.
  • Delivers better outcomes for patients by combining fit, function, and a genuinely natural appearance in one solution.
