Exploring the Synergy: Injection Molding and 3D Printing in Manufacturing.

Comparing, Contrasting, and Uncovering Opportunities in Manufacturing Technologies.

Injection molding

Injection molding, an essential in manufacturing, excels in mass-producing plastic parts with precision and cost-effectiveness. Yet, the rise of industrial 3D printing introduces a transformative shift, challenging traditional methods with its tool-less process and design versatility, especially in 3D printing for production and creating 3D printing injection molds. This synergy between injection molding and 3D printing in manufacturing marks a new frontier, blending established efficiency with innovative flexibility.

Discover how these technologies are shaping the future of production in our eBook.

Injection modeling

We are currently manufacturing a part the size of my little finger – for small parts such as this, we are able to fit around 1000 parts onto the H350’s build tray. Importantly, this means that within 24 hours, we are able to produce the entire order, which is incredible. Over several weeks, we can scale this up to 3D printing tens of thousands of parts quite easily, which are numbers we would never be able to realize with injection molding in such a short space of time – and definitely not at that cost.

Traditional vs. 3D Printing

With 3D printing, you have an alternative to the limitations of conventional manufacturing.

The traditional way to make things – machining and molding – has inherent constraints. As this solution guide shows, 3D printing with SAF powder bed technology offers an effective alternative.
