3D Printing Paper Pulp Molds

Download this free guide

Because it is biodegradable, paper pulp is an attractive packaging alternative to EPS foam. Unfortunately, the larger investment in tooling has been an obstacle to widespread use. Forming paper pulp into a cap, tray or clamshell requires a porous mold that allows for vacuum suction. Using traditional tooling methods, these molds cost between $10,000 and $30,000 and require up to a month to produce. FDM Technology can 3D print paper pulp molds in two to four days at a cost of $500 to $1,000.
