Blow molding produces hollow, thin-walled, plastic parts – like bottles and containers – by inflating hot plastic so that it conforms to the walls of a metal mold cavity. Metal blow molds are cost-efficient for mass production, but machining the molds requires significant up-front time and cost, making design alterations highly problematic.
