Polygon Pattern

Quadcopter Drone Project

3D printing a ready-to-fly drone right out of the printer is closer to reality. Researchers at Nanyang Technological University recently demonstrated this concept successfully, thanks to embedded electronics added during the 3D printing process.

Creating a 3D printed drone is not a new idea, but building one that’s as close to flight-worthy as possible right out of the 3D printer, is a more novel concept. In this white paper you’ll see how engineers navigated that challenge, including how to handle the installation of electronic components.

Read the white paper to see how successful this experiment was. You’ll learn what the designers had to consider including:

  • Working with high-temperature model material
  • Finding compatible electronics
  • Printing the drone chassis and embedding the electronic hardware
