Summary:
The Director of the Consumables business group leads the efforts to increase sales of our proprietary consumables through intensive customer contact, communications, and interaction. This position will be responsible for developing a true understanding of customer user patterns so as to create strategies for expanded growth of our proprietary consumables. This person will be responsible for understanding the demand variables across a number of customer types and applications to drive higher revenue growth in these customer groups.
The Director of Consumables will study customer usage patterns to establish reliable performance metrics that will support business decisions designed to expand revenue. The goal is to develop a true understanding of our customer’s use of our equipment as well as our consumables. This person will then recommend, design, and implement programs to further expand the use of the company’s proprietary consumables. This could include the development of marketing and awareness campaigns, promotional activities, packaging options, pricing strategies, etc. to support quarterly and annual initiatives. Contact with international customers and channel partners will be required, but initially the focus will be on domestic users of our equipment. Must develop and maintain cooperation with our existing channel management, channel partners, marketing teams, and other support organization within Stratasys. Business planning, customer education, data gathering and analysis, and metric creation will be essential requirements for the successful candidate.
The Director of Consumables is accountable for driving revenues through interaction with customers, account managers, channel managers, and other in the organization to identify opportunities within the customers installed base, and to identify future application and development opportunities. However, the primary responsibility will be revenue growth through offerings of currently available materials and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
• Researches customer accounts for opportunities to expand revenues.
• Initiates contact with potential partners, defining the scope of the relationship, identifying profitable deal terms, negotiating transactions, and managing the implementation.
• Analyzes complex data, and thinks strategically about customer’s needs for Rapid Prototyping, Direct Digital Manufacturing, and 3D Printing.
• Study and determine the drivers of the consumable growth and develop programs to address these drivers so to expand growth beyond trend. Determine the differences in usage within the strategic verticals and discern the reasons for these differences in verticals such as Architectural, Aerospace, Automotive, Business Machines, Consumer Products, Design Services, Gov/Military and Medical.
• Collect, analyze, test, and publish data concerning consumable usage, machine usage, development opportunities, key metrics, to help the company expand sales of consumables, systems, and services to meet the customers need.
• Longer range may use data and metrics for recommended R&D activities, material characteristic, etc.
• Demonstrate commitment to Stratasys Core Values by leading, acting and behaving in manners consistent with these values.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures and attend all safety trainings related to the job position.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering combined with an MBA, preferably with a marketing emphasis. 5+ years experience in business development, product management, or similar roles. Prior P&L responsibility desirable.
• Must be analytical and detail orientated, with demonstrated proficiency in statistics, trend analysis, and financial forecasting.
• Should have working knowledge of web-based marketing principles and applications
• Strong presentation and verbal and written communication skills.
• Above average skill level using Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Power Point and the Internet.

• Ability to travel 40% - 60% of the time.
